MONTESSORI THE GREAT LESSONS : The Neolithic Period

 The Coming of Humans

The Neolithic Period

This is a truly a "new" period.
Many groups of man changed from hunting
to agriculture. The first village appeared,
located on dry land or stilts above the water.

 The woman dedicated themselves entirely
to domestic chores and to caring for the
children. Man learned to cultivate grain, fruits
and vegetables. These men domesticated
the animals and learned to milk them.

Culture

The real passage from nomadic life to
sedentary life, but not at all at once. Where this
passage occurs one finds a real revolution in the
life of man, since the cultivation of the land gives
man the assurance of food and the possibility
to establish himself in a fixed zone and develop
a great civilization. Implements become more
perfect, the industry of ceramics is developed, the
textile industry is born, and commerce develops.
Boats are perfected, since the main routes
of communications are the rivers and
the seas. The dead were buried with
richer funeral treasures.

Habitation

Villages of huts were built on the land
and on poles over the water. A village of
2000 people takes the name of city. The cities
were surrounded by walls and had a tower.

Fauna

 Domestic animals increased,
since man realized that animals were
 useful. Many animals were adored
divinities. Also, the land, the wind, the sun,
 and the rain were worshiped.

Vegetation

All of the plants that exist at present.
Grains were cultivated.
