The people of Greece developed
an alphabet with 24 letters. They were
the first people to write from left to right.
They did not leave spaces between their
words. The word "alphabet " comes from
the first two letters of the Greek alphabet
"alpha" and 'beta." The Greeks wrote
on parchment, made from animal skin.
They rolled the parchment into a scroll.
