MONTESSORI GEOGRAPHY : Biomes - Grasslands

 Grassland

Grass grows easily in this biome but
there are few trees. There is more rain
here than in the desert, but it may be
irregular or absent during long periods of
time. The grass is usually golden brown,
but when the rains come, it quickly
turns green and blooms.

Prairies, steppes, savannas, chaparral, and
 Mediterranean scrub can be considered
 grassland areas. Large numbers of
animals have lived in these ares in the
past. Overgrazing of domestic animals
and farming are causing some  of
these areas to turn into desserts.
