Biomes of The World
Mountains
Altitude causes extremes of cold.
Above a certain height, trees do not grow.
Plants must often be able to survive a
rocky soil and a short growing season.

Animals that live in this biome must adapt to
temperature variations and be able to move over
steep slopes. Usually, one side of the mountain
range receives an increase of rain as the air
pushed up turns colder and precipitates. The
other side of the range is likely to be very dry.
