The Frog
A frog is a small, tailless amphibian.
They spend part of their life in the
water, and part of their life on land.
Head
The front part of the body,
uppermost, containing the
eyes, mouth and brain.
Eyes
The eyes bulge out enabling the
frog to see in almost all directions.
Tympanum
Most frogs have a tympanum
(eardrum) disk behind each eye.
Sound waves cause it to vibrate
and travel into the inner ear.
Body
The whole material part
of a man, animal or plant.
Foot
The end part of a leg that
an animal stands on. The feet
are webbed to help the frog swim.
Hindlegs
The rear legs of an animal
having four or more legs.
Frogs have long powerful hind
legs which they use for jumping.
Forelegs
The front legs of an animal having
four or more legs. The small front
legs prop the frog up when it sits.
