Simple
A simple leaf is a leaf with one blade.
The margin may be more or less
deeply dented. The dented margin of
a simple leaf never reaches the main vein.
Compound
A compound leaf is a leaf with its
blade divided down the main vein.
The blade looks like many small
leaves. Each division is called a leaflet.
Each division has a small, complete leaf.
The leaflets form one leaf. Each leaflet
has a bud at the axis of the compound leaf.
